St Albans City Band play in St Albans Abbey |
St Albans City Band were pleased to be invited to play for the Mayor of St Albans, Councillor Albert Pawle at his Civic Service in the superb surroundings of St Albans Abbey on Sunday October 19th. The band played the march 'Death or Glory' by R.B.Hall followed by Karl Jenkins' 'Benedictus' featuring Steve W.Cook as Euphonium soloist. Band supporters will be pleased to hear that videos of the two pieces are available on YouTube here and here as a 'bandsmans eye view'!
The band were very well recieved and it is hoped that the band will be seen around the city on Council business more in the coming months. |

Principal Cornet, Soprano and other vacancies available at St Albans City Band |
St Albans City Band (Section 1 London & Southern Counties Region 2009) require an experienced and enthusiastic Principal Cornet player to lead our musicians under the baton of our Musical Director David Shead. Placed 3rd in the First Section Area Contest in March 2008, we are a young and committed group of players looking to build on our recent successes. Our weekly rehearsals held in St Albans, Herts are well-attended and benefit from both an informal atmosphere and a good work ethic.
If you think that you could be the right person to lead the musicians of our band, then please contact us. All enquiries will be treated in the the strictest of confidence.
Due to family commitments we are also looking for a Soprano Cornet player and would welcome applications for this post, please feel free to contact us for more information.
We also have other vacancies available which are : 2nd Baritone, 2nd Trombone and Bb Bass. Please make contact for more information about the band and the seats available.

Coming to London or the Home Counties to start University in September 2008? Don't want to give up Band? Maybe we can help? St Albans City Band are a progressive and young group of brass musicians led by our dynamic Musical Director David Shead. Placed 3rd in the First Section of the London and Southern Counties Area Contest in March 2008 the band have an enjoyable schedule of concerts and contests planned in the run up to Christmas. Also a variety of social events are planned...very important!!
The band rehearse on a Wednesday evening from 8pm to 10pm at St Albans Music Centre. The city of St Albans is only 20 minutes on the train from London St Pancras station which has connections to the majority of tube lines. Lifts always available from the City station if needed. The band is also based approximately 10 minutes drive from Juncton 21A of the M25 and Junction 6 of the M1.

First Section of the London and Southern Counties Area Championship at
Stevenage on Saturday 15th March.
