David studied trumpet at the Royal college of music with Michael Laird and John Wallace. Since leaving he has freelanced as a player and conductor. He spent many years in the South West teaching at Sherborne School and Wells Cathedral School.

His band conducting started with Sherborne Town Band which he conducted for five years and took them to the National Finals. Since leaving Sherborne David has been Musical Director of bands such as Wincanton and Bendix Kingswood and has also been guest conductor with many other bands such as Aldbourne and City of Bristol.

He is principal trumpet with the London Festival Orchestra, Ten Tors orchestra, Cameleon Arts, Dorset Opera company plus freelances with many other groups and West End shows.

He has toured extensively with orchestras and has given recitals and masterclasses in Brunei and the Far East.

David has recorded many CDs both with orchestras and solo and has performed live broadcasts for the BBC.

David is involved with music in the local community and is very commited to youth music in education and presently teaches at K.E.G.S in Chelmsford and the Perse school in Cambridge.

Since moving to the South East he has continued to work with Brass bands. He is delighted to be joining St Albans City Band and looks forward to new challenges as their Musical Director.
