St Albans City Band spends Christmas... |

...with the turkeys at Sainsburys! Lots of carolling at Sainsburys, London Colney made some of the band feel like it was becoming a second home - but it was all worthwhile as the members of the band collected £3000 for charity.
The days and evenings of carolling were long and gruelling for both the players and collectors but everything was very well received by the members of the public who stopped and listened to a variety of carols and Christmas songs both classic and modern. A variety of requests were received including the old favourite 'Silent Night', although when Scott Garman playing it was anything but that! Our thanks go out to all of those who were kind enough to stop and chat, or simply donate to our cause.
The Band were also seen at a variety of other Christmas engagements including the well received concert at the Butterwick Centre in St Albans and the Radlett Rotary Club Christmas Carol Concert where the band was top of the bill along the evergreen Nigel Rogers and his renditions of Christmas songs from days of old (...sure you'd kill a man twice...after eating a slice...of Ms. Gilligan's Christmas Cake..!). Oh yes - Christmas wouldn't be the same without hearing that! Perhaps we should publish a full transcript on here...?
