band6a_1.jpgThe wedding of Rachel Wells, one of the band's cornet players occurred on Friday 17th June, and the band were there to give her a send off to remember! band6a_2.jpgRachel married Rob Smith at North Mymms Church, before the reception at the West Lodge Hotel, Hadley Wood. The weather was fine, warm and still and the after dinner entertainment consisted of none other than St Albans City Band! After several pieces, Rachel was invited to join the band in a rendition of her favourite piece, 'The Floral Dance' which she had chosen especially for the occasion. Sadly we were unable to provide Terry Wogan for a vocal accompaniment! 

I am told it is normal for brides to carry their cornets with them on their wedding day (did she take it to the altar? I don't know!) but by the end of the performance she had ended up on the front row! Captions are invited for the picture on this page!!
